Our group used every mode of transportation that was available including walking.
Transportation is key to the market place and the world and Taiwan and Japan truly understand how to get from point A to point B efficiently and economically. The various methods are eco- friendly such as bikes, buses seeing that it is a form of carpooling at it best, and especially the trains that take you quickly from city to city.
More importantly the infrastructure is conducive to these forms of transportation. There is bike storage at the train station, at workplaces, and most every other place.

Comparably, Flint has decided to add bike trails to the ambience of the city, which is great for a start. It would be great if biking were an option year round, however the Michigan winter months impede biking. There are trains in Michigan and I have taken a wonderful train ride to Canada.
In any event these Japan and Taiwan have well developed system that are very accommodating.
