The country of Japan and Taiwan fit me to a tee. The last night of our stay took place in Osaka Japan: The rooms were bit-size. I could touch the ceiling and I am 5’2”. If you were taller, say 5’6’’ you would need to be very careful when entering into the room.I understand this was a typically accommodations for hotel rooms.
With the current situation, that is many global travelers, tall, short, skinny, not so skinny,Japan has to rethink these bit-size rooms.

On our last day in Japan, we took a tour of the Hikone Castle. This was the place of refuge for the Emperor. It is located in beautiful surrounding. Year ago it was surround by water to impede attack on the castle.
Many of the existing structures are in pristine condition and we had the opportunity to see how the palace would response to threats on the castle. There were many, many, I mean many steps to get to the top of the castle. Can you imagine climbing these steps with about 40 pounds of armor? To say the least it was a great workout and adventure.
After the tour we had our farewell lunch.

I am being presented with a certificate of completion. Thanks to the Um-Flint for putting together a great educational experience.

Our group used every mode of transportation that was available including walking.
Transportation is key to the market place and the world and Taiwan and Japan truly understand how to get from point A to point B efficiently and economically. The various methods are eco- friendly such as bikes, buses seeing that it is a form of carpooling at it best, and especially the trains that take you quickly from city to city.
More importantly the infrastructure is conducive to these forms of transportation. There is bike storage at the train station, at workplaces, and most every other place.

Comparably, Flint has decided to add bike trails to the ambience of the city, which is great for a start. It would be great if biking were an option year round, however the Michigan winter months impede biking. There are trains in Michigan and I have taken a wonderful train ride to Canada.
In any event these Japan and Taiwan have well developed system that are very accommodating.

Companies both big and small focus intensely on promoting its products and services.
Outside of almost every business there is someone enticing customers to patronize its business. The enticement is either by low price, differentiation, or conscious suggestion
( a pretty face as it spoke person ). As of lately in the US I have notice street advertising either by a person holding a sign, or dress in costume. I believe this mode of advertising is cost effective and efficient seeing that in Taiwan the employees that actively participate in promoting its company. Conversely, in the US, for the most part it is hired help

Palace Museum

Although we are oceans apart Taiwan’s culture has characteristic that are similar to the United States. Touring the Palace Museum in Taiwan I viewed the empirical evidence of changes in Taiwan and it’s Emperors. Each Emperor escalated their desire to be more significant than the previous Emperor. Differentiation was the key ingredient in manifesting their unique culture, strategy, and style, which is similar to the US Presidents’ need to shape the Whitehouse into what best represents the strategies and culture of that particular president.
